PHOTOS + REVIEW: TAME IMPALA @ PECHANGA ARENA (SAN DIEGO, CA)

Tame Impala (Perth, Au)
March 9th, 2020
Pechanga Arena in San Diego, CA

Tame Impala delivered a stunning visual journey that fired up all of our senses. It was a night of pure auditory bliss that catapulted us out of reality for the entire duration of the show.  In the midst of a world pandemic, it was pretty epic to witness a packed venue of attentive dancing fans that crossed over what appeared to be three generations.  This show was literally a moment before our daily lives got suddenly halted.  Before the mandatory social distancing froze live shows and pretty much all of our routines for an indeterminate time. It was the magic before the storm so to speak.

This performance was of epic proportion and will be forever remembered.  I witnessed a fully sold out arena that forgot about every worry, every fear, and quite literally watched them break into a continuous harmonious dance that linked the entire crowd together.  Very few performers are capable of freezing time like that, but Kevin Parker did just that.  He melted us all under a moon of psychedelic beams and trance like vocals that moved the audience as a whole, delivering not a concert but an unforgettable experience.

Tame Impala is touring in support of their latest release, The Slow Rush which was gifted to fans on February 14th, 2020. San Diego being the opening night of the tour was lucky enough to enjoy a few live debuts of several songs from the latest album.  This included a pretty amazing interpretation of, “Perfect Illusion” from Lady Gaga’s album Joanne which is co-written by Kevin Parker and of course all those classics that just made the crowd go crazy.
