Saturday night The Elixery, a Minneapolis, MN based cosmetic house launched their much-anticipated new color, Dessa. With a local star line up that included Barb Abney from 89.3 The Current, and performances by DessaAby Wolf, and Ashley Gold the night proved to be a success. A round of applause to Dessa’s live band; Dustin Kiel, Sean McPherson, and Joey Van Phillips that backed up the performers. The standing room only event led audience members standing on tip toes, kneeling beside tables, and crowding the aisles. Any fan of Dessa’s either solo work, or work with hip-hop collective, Doomtree know that Dessa has a strong commitment to empowering women, and social justice. Before the night’s events started VIP guests were treated with drinks, hors’doevres, a tube of Dessa lipstick, and a special meet and greet with the performer herself.

The Icehouse, a new live music restaurant to Minneapolis supplied the beautiful venue for the night. The friendly bartenders even created a drink for the night, The Angel of Doom. Dessa will be donating all proceeds of her lipstick to help educate and empower women in developing countries, with the organization, CARE. Before the event started a model walked around showcasing The Elixery lipstick collection, featuring Dessa, like an old school cigarette girl. Restaurant patrons were invited to try the new shade on, and browse the rest of The Elixery line. The color of the lipstick was designed by Emmy® award-winning makeup artist, Crist Ballas, and formulated by The Elixery, and chemist, Karoline Wells.

Dessa took the stage for a moment to explain how passionate she is about the importance of empowering women, and the CARE organization. Dessa and Aby Wolf performed together with Dessa’s band. Aby Wolf performed songs from her debut album which included; Rise Anew, Disassemble, and Drama Queen. Ashley Gold took the stage with Aby Wolf to perform a few songs before Gold took the stage with the band. Gold played songs from her album, Late Bloomer. A high energy night with some of Minneapolis’ high impact women proved to be a success. The red carpet-like photobooth, the makeup artists, the live music, the cocktails, and knowing that proceeds went to the CARE organization, everyone left with a smile on their face.
