Another long day of work was done and I was home for the night… or so I thought. Scanning through Twitter with dinner in front of me, I saw that Mike Mictlan and Lazerbeak of Doomtree were going to be performing Hand Over Fist cover to cover! I was not about to miss out on this.

The evening began with IPR Students performing some mixing and hip hop of their own. It was their class final and all in all it was pretty impressive.

Mictlan has a strong presence on stage, and people feed off of it. He is 100% from the word go and gets the crowd moving right away. A few songs were laid down; such as “OMG”; and Lazerbeak was given the stage to showcase a couple Lavabangers. If you don’t know, Beak coined the term “Lavebangers” to describe his beats, which are insane, hot, and gigantic!

HoF is an intense album, and it was rockin the packed club. “Shux” came up in the set list and who runs out on stage but P.O.S.! He was out there for that song and “Hand Over Fist”. They were also graced by the presence of Spyder Baybie Raw Dog, chatting with Lazerbeak and taking a picture of Mike. Certainly one of the things I look forward to during a Doomtree member’s show is seeing who will show up and jump on stage.
