Limelight: Thomas Paul (Boise, Idaho)
For the first of a new feature inviting musicians to talk about musicians influencing them or living nearby, we’re stepping back into last year with:
Thomas Paul is a Boise, Idaho-based guitarist who most recently performed guitar for Nick Jaina on his Fall 2010 tour (Madison concert photos). A staple in Boise, he has been playing solo and group shows for years. His newest album, Goodbye, Waterloo… is just about to be released on Emeritus Records. Breaking in the New Year, he’s kind enough to share a couple of his current favorite videos from two great artists from the Pacific Northwest. Be sure to pick up some of his self-described “bastard soul indie jazz rock”!
Thomas Paul:
“Run On Sentence, another of Portland’s finest. Here he is performing “Stonewall” a few years back… So good…. Such an incredible writer and performer….
Boise’s electro-dance duo of distinction, OwlRight. Can’t get this out of my Discman;)….. For this video they condensed their entire new album, C00L SH00S D00D into a 3-minute mix. Anyone who has travelled by car between Portland and Boise will recognize a particularly distinct stretch of scenery.”
