PHOTOS: HOZIER AND CAROLINE SMITH AT ROY WILKINS AUDITORIUM (ST PAUL, MN)

Last time Hozier was in Minnesota, he performed at First Avenue and left with rave reviews. On Thursday, he made his way across the Mississippi river to the Roy Wilkins Auditorium.

Opening the night for Hozier was local gem Caroline Smith, who is usually joined by an extremely talented group of musicians. This night, she was on her own and did a fantastic job of winning over the crowd with soulful originals and fantastic acoustic covers.

Hozier towered above the photo pit as he took in the adoration of his fans. Each song that he started to sing, was met with much celebration, cheers and yells. I wish I had more to tell you about the performance, as the band’s sound was tremendous, but I could only stay for the songs I shot.

From what I did take in with songs like “Like Real People Do” and “Angel of Small Death and the Codeine Scene”, I would go see him again, even without a camera, and that is saying a lot!
