The Armory in Minneapolis, MN
Lamb of God visited the Twin Cities last week and proved yet again why they’ve been an institution in the new wave of heavy metal. Is it really new wave now though, when they’ve been doing this for 25+ years now?
I never got to see the band in their hey day. The only other time being in 2021 when they opened for Megadeth on the Metal Tour of the Year tour. Five years later that still is marked down as one of the most intense shows I’ve been to.
2026 saw the band take on a more stripped down production at the Armory and a more intimate type of feel to the show, yet the intensity was all so familiar to five years ago.
A couple weeks prior to this date of the tour, the band released their newest album Into Oblivion, one of my favorites of the band’s since Wrath. The mixing as a whole and performance of every band member sounds phenomenal, and I was stoked to be able to see some of it played live. I was bummed that it only ended up being three songs, but I’ll take it when considering how the rest of the setlist was filled out. I’m a huge fan of Randy Blythe, so just getting to see him do his thing in person again was a real treat that I won’t take for granted.
Gone was the literal fire of shows prior, but the fire of the band was very much alive and present this night.
